Internet Governance is “The development and application by governments, the private sector and civil society, in their respective roles, of shared principles, norms, rules, decision making procedures and programmes that shape the evolution and use of the Internet”.

What is ZAIGF?

The South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF) is a multi-stakeholder forum that facilitates and strengthens dialogues on public policy issues related to Internet Governance in an open and transparent manner in order to shape the future of the Internet ecosystem in South Africa. The ZAIGF is open to all stakeholders including government, private sector, academia, civil society and the technical community.

Multistakeholder Committee

At the ZAIGF 2017, seven individual from different stakeholders were elected to serve in the Multistakeholder Committee. The functions of the Multistakeholder Committee are: To convene the annual ZAIGF in conjunction with ZADNA and DTPS. To develop a work program from the outcomes of the ZAIGF To report back to the ZAIGF on the progress of the work program To keep track of the developments in the regional and global Internet Governance arena. To produce an annual report on the South African Internet Governance landscape.

  About Internet Governance

The South African Internet Governance Forum was inaugurated in September 2011. Its overall objective was to develop a coordinated and coherent approach to dealing with Internet Governance issues in the South Africa. The South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF) is a multi-stakeholder forum that facilitates and strengthens dialogues on public policy issues related to Internet Governance in an open and transparent manner in order to shape the future of the Internet ecosystem in South Africa.
